Veronica Fish is a high school student at Mira Costa High School in California. She has achieved various accomplishments, including winning 1st place as the best delegate in Advanced LAIMUN Model UN and receiving an award in the CodeQuest International Coding Competition.

Veronica is actively involved in her community as a community lead at Beach Cities Health District Youth Advisory Council. In this role, she acts as an Ambassador of Health, connecting peers with resources and information. She also develops programming for student mental health, and alcohol and drug use, contributing to the adoption of tobacco and vaping policies in Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach to protect youth.

Veronica’s dedication to advocacy extends to being a featured presenter at the TUPE Youth Advocacy Leadership Conference, where she educates student leaders and professionals about the dangers of substance abuse.

We are delighted to share that Veronica’s research paper titled “Evaluating Hispanic Cultural Competency Training in US Universities for Drug Abuse Treatment in Los Angeles” has been accepted at the Canadian Sociology Association (CSA). The CSA’s 2023 conference, hosted by York University, aimed to promote collaboration and mutual understanding within the realm of sociology. The event included a diverse array of activities, such as research presentations, interactive sessions, panel discussions, and keynote speeches by professors from institutions including York University, University of Auckland, University of Chicago, University of Edinburgh, and Oxford University, among others.

Congratulations, Veronica!
