The Future of Higher Education with Claire Gumus

Our guest this epsiode, Claire Gumus, has close to 15 years of experience with top tier schools in Canada and the US. At Columbia University in New York City, she has read thousands of applications, conducted interviews, and guided students and their families through the college application process.

In this episode, Claire Gumus shares that relying on standardised test scores was always difficult for admission officers and students alike, as a high test score never guaranteed admission. Amongst the great pieces of advice that Claire Gumus provides in her discussion, she also advises that students should focus their energy into developing key skills for success in college/university, such as time management.

This interview is part of the The Future of Higher Education podcast. In the Test-Optional Admissions series, we discuss the implications of the growing number of test-optional colleges and universities in the United States, as well as the general state of college admissions today. Stay tuned for more interviews with seasoned admissions professionals on The Future of Higher Education podcast.
