High School Student Researcher Eesha on DNA Nanotechnology as an Alternative Approach to Invasive Cancer Treatments

Eesha Sagiraju is a Year 10 student at Charter School of Wilmington in Delaware, USA. Her impressive accomplishments include securing multiple awards such as placing 2nd (National) in Entrepreneurship Exploration (2020-2021) and placing 2nd (National) in Medical Terminology Concepts (2021-2022) at the Business Professional of America (BPA), as well as placing 2nd (National) in Prepared Presentation (2021-2022) at Technology Student Association.

In addition to her academic achievements, Eesha has held leadership roles such as serving as the 2019-2020 President for Odyssey Charter Middle Level Technology Student Association (TSA Chapter). In this position, she organised events with other non-profit organisations to promote TSA to younger generations. Currently, Eesha is working as an intern at Superbrewed Food, a nutrition and health company that focuses on the development of natural ingredients using an anaerobic fermentation process.

At CCIR Academy, Eesha conducted a research project titled “DNA Nanotechnology as an Alternative Approach to Invasive Cancer Treatments: Using a DNA Origami Nanocarrier for the Targeted Delivery of Monoclonal Antibodies”. Her research focused on using DNA Nanotechnology for cell activity, with a particular emphasis on targeting tumour cells without affecting neighbouring healthy cell tissue.

In the CCIR Student Spotlights, Eesha would share her research journey and expressed gratitude for the unwavering support she received from her professor and the CCIR academy.
