Karma Bridgman, a student at Dubai College in the UAE, has demonstrated a strong academic focus. She completed a Higher Project Qualification (HPQ) with a 10,000-word dissertation on astrophysics and quantum physics, titled ‘Theories for the End of the Universe.’ As the sole editor of the Mathematics Society, Karma manages and edits the school’s mathematics newsletter for students in Years 7-11, reaching approximately 1650 students for the Academic Year 2022-23. She also contributed to the Quantum STEM Newsletter, which is distributed to over 4,000 readers across the school community.
Karma delivered a TedX-inspired talk in November 2021 in front of 600 people on the topic ‘Dark Matter – the light to our future?’. She received the Student Speaker’s Award and spoke at the closing ceremonies of Harvard Model Congress 2023 in front of 450 attendees. Additionally, Karma received the Best Researcher Award at the American University Dubai Model United Nations 2022, International Atomic Energy Agency.
In the CCIR Academy, Karma conducted a research project titled “Integration of Particle Acceleration in Magnetic and Electric Fields for High Density Objects.” The research focuses on investigating and enhancing methods of particle acceleration within magnetic and electric fields, with a specific emphasis on applications related to high-density objects.
Karma’s commitment to research was highlighted in her recent appearance on CCIR Academy Student Spotlights, where she expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from her professor and the CCIR Academy.
