Lancy ShangGuan, a student at St Margaret’s College Christchurch in New Zealand, has achieved notable recognition and experiences. Her awards include a Distinction in the Australian Maths Competition (AMC) 2020 and International Scholarship from University of Otago.
Lancy participated in the Imperial College London Global Summer School in the UK, where she received an unconditional offer for the Medicine and Life Sciences course. Additionally, she attended the Hands On at Otago programme at the University of Otago in New Zealand, studying Phycology, Genetics, and Chemistry with an International Scholarship.
In volunteer work, Lancy dedicated her time at the SPCA in Christchurch, assisting in the Feline centre weekly to support the animals. She also completed an internship at the Department of Orthopaedics, The Third Affiliated Hospital of Shanghai Naval Military Medical University in China, gaining insights into the life of doctors.
Lancy’s research paper, titled “Recent Advances in Mesenchymal Stem Cell-based Therapy for Diabetes Mellitus,” was accepted and published in the Curieux Academic Journal. This journal, led by youth, aims to showcase outstanding research by high school and middle school students and has received recognition from reputable platforms such as Google Scholar, the New York Times, and Academia.
