Are the CCIR Research Symposium and Cambridge Re:think
Dinner & Awards Ceremony one single event or two separate events?
CCIR Research Symposium and Cambridge Re:think Dinner & Awards Ceremony are a two-day hybrid event that spans across 7/29/2025 and 7/30/2025. While the research symposium will continue throughout the two days, Re:think Dinner & Awards Ceremony will take place on the evening of the second day. Dr Thomas R. Cech, the 1989 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recipient, will be joining students and families at the dinner and deliver a Keynote speech.

Do I need to reserve a ticket to attend the research symposium and Nobel keynotes?
Symposium presenters & award winners: you do not need to reserve a free ticket for yourself. However, you will need to reserve free tickets for your family or friends who wish to attend the symposium. You may bring no more than 2 guests. Please consult the RSVP.
Honourable Mention recipients: you will need to reserve a free ticket for yourself. In addition, you will need to reserve free tickets for your family or friends who wish to attend the symposium. You may bring no more than 2 guests. Please consult the RSVP.

I want to bring family members/friends to the research symposium. Do they need tickets and how many can I bring?

Each student under the age of 18 is required to bring at least one parent/guardian to the event. We welcome all students and family members to join us for student presentations. Please consult the RSVP form to receive free tickets to the research symposium. Award winners, symposium presenters, and Honourable Mention recipients may bring no more than 2 guests.

I’m a Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Special Prize winner of the essay competition / Research Symposium presenter, do I need to purchase a ticket to attend the dinner & awards ceremony?

Congratulations! Your ticket is already included, so you do not need to purchase a ticket for yourself. However, you will need to purchase tickets for your family or friends who wish to attend the awards ceremony and dinner. Each student under the age of 18 is required to bring at least one parent/guardian to the event. Each student may bring no more than 2 guests. Please note that transportation and accommodations are not included. Tickets are first come, first serve.

I’m an Honourable Mention recipient of the essay competition and I want to attend the award ceremony and dinner. Is this possible?

Yes! Do note, however, that honourable mention students will have to purchase a ticket to gain admittance to the award ceremony and dinner. Family and friends will also require tickets to attend the awards ceremony and dinner. Each student under the age of 18 is required to bring at least one parent/guardian to the event. Each student may bring no more than 2 guests. Please note that transportation and accommodations are not included. Tickets are first come, first serve.

Are transportation and accommodation included? Will CCIR cover or provide financial assistance for travel and living expenses?

Please note that transportation and accommodations are not included, and CCIR does not provide financial assistance for travel. For symposium presenters who would like to pivot to the virtual presentation option after initially selecting in-person, please contact outreach@cambridge-research.org.

Will there be food or snacks available during the Symposium?
Light snacks and refreshments will be available on both days of the CCIR Research Symposium exclusively for student presenters. Families and guests are warmly encouraged to explore the many excellent food options available throughout Cambridge during the day. Please note that CCIR is unable to provide meal assistance or recommendations for families and guests.

So there are two types of tickets?
Correct. The first type is free and will allow entry to the research symposium. The second type is 150 GBP and will allow entry to the dinner & awards ceremony.

How many tickets are available? How many can I purchase in total?
There will be about 150 tickets in total for the dinner and symposium. A number of tickets are reserved for Re:think award recipients, symposium presenters, the professors at the University of Cambridge, and CCIR organisers. About 100 tickets are available to purchase. Again, award winners, symposium presenters, and Honourable Mention recipients may bring no more than 2 guests. Each student under the age of 18 is required to bring at least one parent/guardian to the event.

How much is the dinner ticket and what is included?
The ticket is 150 GBP (VAT included) and will secure entry to the awards ceremony and a traditional Oxbridge-style High Table Dinner hosted at King’s College, University of Cambridge. The Hall was designed by William Wilkins in the 1820s and is considered one of the most magnificent halls of its era. The first High Table dinner in the Hall was held in February 1828, and ever since then, the splendid Hall has been where members of the college eat and where formal dinners have been held for centuries. You will be joined by fellow award recipients as well as professors from the University of Cambridge for meticulously curated three-course dinner and a delightful night of inspiring conversations.

Who else will be at the dinner?
In addition to Dr Thomas R. Cech, the 1989 Nobel Prize in Chemistry recipient, we will also be inviting our partnered faculty from the University of Cambridge. This will be a great opportunity to brush shoulders with some of the leading researchers and academics around the world.

When is the last day to confirm for the two-day event?
