High School Student Researcher Arnav’s Paper on Modeling of PEDOT Electrodes for Skin-based Technologies Wins Best Paper Award at IEEE ECBIOS 2024 Conference

Arnav Reddy, a rising senior at Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose, has won the “Best Paper” award at the 2024 IEEE 6th Eurasia Conference on Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare, and Sustainability (IEEE ECBIOS 2024), held in Tainan, Taiwan, from June 14 to June 16, 2024.

Arnav’s award-winning paper, “Modeling of PEDOTelectrodes for skin-based technologies as discrete electrical components,” compares impedance values between PEDOTand plain metal electrodes through computer simulation, showcasing the superior effectiveness of PEDOTelectrodes in health monitoring devices. This significant research has applications in the healthcare industry for detecting illnesses through sensor-based physiological monitoring.

Arnav’s journey in Bioengineering and Medicine has been marked by his participation in various university programs, his role in his school’s robotics Team 254, and his commitment to community service. In his freshman and sophomore years, Arnav attended Bioengineering programs at universities, broadening his knowledge in research and related topics. He has taken part in both VEX and FTC as a builder and manufacturer, where his team received design and innovation awards for robot design and functionality.

Beyond STEM, Arnav founded a mental health club at his school in alliance with NAMI to raise awareness among his peers. He also volunteers regularly at a public hospital in California and is currently interning at an Eye Hospital in India, focusing on providing care to underserved communities through outreach camps, discussing improvements to the hospital’s quality of care, conducting case studies, and interacting with patients.

Within the CCIR Academy, Arnav further honed his research skills under the mentorship of Dr. Ivan Dimov. Presenting his paper at the IEEE ECBIOS 2024 conference allowed Arnav to engage with professors from around the world, making it an incredible experience. The conference emphasized the transformation of healthcare through technology and the integration of various disciplines to enhance accessibility and ethical practices. The conference proceedings will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library and Engineering Proceedings for indexing.

Congratulations to Arnav Reddy for this outstanding accomplishment!
