High School Student Researcher Karthikeya on Analysing U.S. Airline Reviews from Twitter

Karthikeya Atmakuru, a student at The Quarry Lane School in the USA, has not only been academically excellent but also driven to explore the world through science. He has participated the Gifted And Talented Institute where he received the Certificate in Research & Innovation Leadership through the GSET Program. Through these experiences, he conducted research on the perception of speed in video games and developed skills in drawing data-based conclusions. His team’s business idea was also recognised among the top three in a program, where he pitched it to an audience of over 300 people. Additionally, he gained knowledge in AI fundamentals and autonomous car navigation and simulation through the ROAR program at UCBerkeley.

Karthikeya also serves as the Programming lead for School Robotics at The Quarry Lane School and is involved in programming and learning about the hardware of the robot. He is also the President of the STEM Ignite club, which he initiated to mentor students in STEM topics, develop programming skills, and engage with the community.

In the CCIR Academy, Karthikeya conducted a research project titled “Analysing U.S. Airline Reviews from Twitter,” which involves examining and analysing reviews about U.S. airlines shared on Twitter. The research focuses on collecting tweets discussing various aspects of U.S. airlines and utilising natural language processing and sentiment analysis techniques to gain insights into public perceptions and sentiments towards these airlines expressed on Twitter.

Karthikeya’s recent recognition in the CCIR Academy highlights his dedication to research, acknowledging the support he has received from his professor and the CCIR Academy.
