Leanne Nguyen, a high school student at West Island School in Hong Kong, is a dynamic individual with diverse engagements. Leanne has taken the stage as a speaker at TedxYouth@STC and RTHK. Since 2018, she has actively participated in Model United Nations (MUN) Conferences, both locally and regionally. Notably, she is a MUN student leader, having held positions like Head Chair of ICJ and Technology Director at the inaugural WISMUN Conference 2021.
Leanne was chosen as an OWN Academy Student Ambassador in 2020 and involved in various hackathons and STEM competitions, and volunteers her time as an English tutor for underprivileged students.
Passionate about inspiring her peers, Leanne encourages them to participate in hackathons, MUN conferences, OWN Academy Career Fairs, and also tutors underprivileged students. She demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit by founding an online fashion accessories store, Lebae, and a writing platform, Student Critics. Leanne has gained practical experience through internships at MakerBay, Pro Bono Hong Kong, and Goldman Sachs.
We’re delighted to share that Leanne’s research paper titled “How Have Changes to the United Kingdom Slavery Act Affected the Conceptualisation of ‘Race’ and Racism in Society?” has been accepted for the 2024 10th International Conference on Humanity and Social Sciences (ICHSS 2024). This conference provides a prominent platform for global researchers and practitioners to discuss the latest advancements and future trends in the realms of social sciences and humanity.
