Unnati Seshadri, a student at James Logan High School in the USA, has demonstrated prowess in various fields, including science, debate, and social initiatives. Notably, she secured first place in the ACSEF Science Fair Challenge for BioMechanical Engineering and clinched third place in the MIT BeaverWorks CubeSat Contest as part of a team effort. Additionally, she reached the semifinals in the Humorous Interpretation category at the Harvard Debate Tournament.
Her passion for creating impactful solutions is evident in her project aimed at developing affordable, drug-free, tech-driven interventions for individuals in assisted living. This initiative, which led to the creation of a device to suppress tremors in Parkinson’s Disease patients, garnered significant recognition, including first place at the county level, a Special Award from the US Navy, and an Honorable Mention at the California State level.
Unnati’s research paper, titled “Detection and Suppression of Parkinson’s Disease Tremors,” has been accepted at the MIT Undergraduate Research Technology Conference (MIT URTC 2023) in Massachusetts. This prestigious conference, organised by a dedicated cohort of MIT students in partnership with the IEEE, provides a platform for presenting student-led papers and posters, along with networking opportunities.
