Aleksander Zarebinski is a student at Dulwich College with the goal of becoming a neurosurgeon. He is currently building the foundation for his future career by extensively exploring biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. In the past, he has participated in various international competitions, including the British Biology Olympiad (2022), Intermediate British Biology Olympiad (2022), Chemistry Olympiad (2021 & 2022), and International Competition Brain Bee (2021 & 2022), among others. Prior to CCIR, he attended advanced-level courses and workshops organised by the University of Warsaw, Munich Neurocamp, and Harvard University.
At the CCIR Academy, Aleksander undertook a research project titled “Introduction to Gene Therapy and the Use of AAV Viral Vectors in the Treatment of Monogenic Eye Disorders.” In this research, he focuses on retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease that causes night vision deterioration and could lead to complete blindness.
