Xianjie Yang, a student at Nanjing Foreign Language School, founded the New Sunshine charity group, overseeing 43 student tutors providing online lessons to children with leukemia in Nanjing. He, as a tutor, planned and conducted math, Chinese, and art lessons every two weeks, enhancing his leadership and instructing skills.
Currently, he’s developing a smart doorbell activated by sound and movement to save electricity. Using programming and electronics skills, he designed a prototype, facing challenges in its features and compatibility with existing home systems, demonstrating resilience and innovation.
Engaging in Chinese calligraphy from a young age, Xianjie explores its geometric beauty by designing 3D calligraphy characters using C4D, merging his passion for calligraphy with design, learning patience, precision, and creativity.
In maths competitions, Xianjie excelled, entering the Honor Roll in the Euclid Mathematics Contest, ranking 95th globally. Subsequent achievements in AMC12, BMO, and the Math League significantly boosted his confidence. Recently, scoring 14/15 on the AIME and receiving the Meritorious Award for the High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling further highlighted his mathematical prowess.
We are delighted to share that Xianjie’s research paper titled “Is Symbolisation a Kind of Translation?” has been accepted at 11th Asian Undergraduate Research Symposium (AURS11) in Tokyo.
