Riya Koya is a student at Carmel High School in the United States. She has demonstrated strong academic abilities across chemistry, healthcare, and history. Through national competitions and leadership events, she has earned recognition for her knowledge, dedication, and commitment to learning.
Recognition in the US National Chemistry Olympiad
Riya qualified for the US National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) after taking the Chemistry Olympiad Local Exam. She also received an Honourable Mention as one of the top scorers in Indiana.
This achievement reflects her strong foundation in chemistry and her ability to apply scientific knowledge in a competitive academic setting. Furthermore, qualifying for the national competition highlights her dedication to developing her understanding of the subject.
International and State Achievements in HOSA
Riya has also earned notable recognition through Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). At the HOSA International Leadership Conference, she placed 6th globally in Medical Spelling.
Her success in the event began earlier. As a ninth-grader, she won the state championship in Medical Spelling. In addition, she placed 3rd in Public Health at the State Leadership Conference.
Her performance in Public Health also earned her a scholarship from Johnson & Wales University. These achievements demonstrate her interest in healthcare and her ability to excel in different areas of health-related knowledge.
Advancing Through National History Day
Beyond science and healthcare, Riya has explored her interest in history through National History Day (NHD). She advanced from the regional competition to the state level and eventually reached the national competition.
At nationals, Riya represented Indiana alongside students from multiple countries. This experience gave her the opportunity to participate in a wider academic competition and engage with historical topics beyond her usual studies.
A Diverse Record of Academic Achievement
Riya’s accomplishments reflect her curiosity across several academic disciplines. From qualifying for the US National Chemistry Olympiad to earning international recognition in HOSA, she has demonstrated dedication to challenging herself.
Moreover, her progression through National History Day highlights her interest in exploring subjects beyond science and healthcare. Together, these experiences showcase her versatility and commitment to academic growth.
