Emma Jansen, a student at Liberty University Online Academy in the USA, is passionate about classics and ancient history. She has self-studied Ancient Greek, and in addition to that, she has studied abroad in Rome, Italy. During her time there, she had intensively studied both history and language.
Additionally, she has undertaken an important project at the local museum, volunteering to organise and structure the archives. She has also pursued an internship and currently holds a position as a reporter at Intercounty Leader Newspaper. This experience has further fueled her interest in research and academic writing.
In the CCIR Academy, Emma conducted a research project titled “The Evolution of Translation Methods through the Analysis of Gender and Sexuality in Achilles Tatius’ Leucippe and Clitophon.” This project explores how translation techniques have evolved by analysing gender and sexuality in Achilles Tatius’ ancient Greek novel. Emma examines different translations’ interpretations of gender roles, sexual themes, and character relationships, exploring linguistic choices and cultural interpretations. In summary, the study delves into how translations of ancient texts reflect changing societal attitudes towards gender and sexuality over time, using “Leucippe and Clitophon” as a focal point.
Emma’s recent recognition in the CCIR Academy underscores her commitment to research, acknowledging the support she received from her professor and the CCIR Academy.
