High School Student Researcher Sricheta on Spectrum due to Outflows in X-Ray Pulsars

Sricheta Karmakar, a high school student at Indira National School in India, possesses a profound passion for quantum physics, astrophysics, and cosmology. Her determination lies in furthering her research skills and nurturing her ability to formulate theories.

Her remarkable accomplishments include a Special Achievement Certificate from SilverZone Foundation for achieving the top position in the Maharashtra state-level Social Studies Olympiad. She also secured her place in the Infosys Catch Them Young program, where her selection was based on her outstanding academic performance and logical reasoning test results. Sricheta’s academic prowess is evident as she clinched the first position in her school and achieved a noteworthy state rank of 74 in the Reasoning and Aptitude Olympiad. Her intellectual excellence shines through with a perfect 100 percentile in the National Genius Search Examination.

Additionally, she received a Bronze award in The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition for her insightful essay titled “Community Service and Why It Matters.” Her prowess as a writer is further attested by the Silver award she received for her essay “Keeping Connected through COVID-19” and the Gold award for “A Place I Feel Connected to.” She has achieved notable success in the Science Olympiad Foundation IMO/NSO Olympiads, securing several gold medals and three certificates of excellence.

Within the CCIR Academy, Sricheta conducted a research project titled “Spectrum due to Outflows in X-Ray Pulsars.” This research paper delves into understanding the spectral characteristics of X-ray pulsars, with a specific focus on investigating how outflows influence X-ray emissions. This exploration is paramount for gaining profound insights into the intricate nature and behaviour of these high-energy astrophysical phenomena.

Sricheta’s dedication to her research journey is evident in her recent appearance on CCIR Academy Student Spotlights. During this episode, she shared invaluable insights and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the unwavering support provided by her professor and the CCIR Academy throughout her research endeavours.
