Samaya Shah is a student at The Pingry School in the United States. She has received the Faculty Award and the Scholarship Prize, recognising her academic excellence and consistent effort across subjects.
Samaya’s research paper, The Idolisation of Wealth and the Moral Decline in Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens, has been accepted for presentation at the National Undergraduate Literature Conference (NULC), hosted by Weber State University. Her paper explores Charles Dickens’ critique of Victorian society’s obsession with money and material wealth, examining how wealth becomes a new “idol” that undermines moral and religious values and contributes to moral decline across social classes.
The National Undergraduate Literature Conference (NULC) is the longest-running undergraduate literature event in the United States. Hosted by Weber State University, the conference provides students with an opportunity to present their research and engage with peers and faculty in the field of literature.
