Ishaan’s Research Published at Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal

Ishaan Goswami joined CCIR’s 1-on-1 Research Mentorship programme last summer. Under Dr Zarkan’s guidance, he developed a research paper titled “A Bioinformatic Analysis of mecA Prevalence in Bacterial Species.”

As a result, the Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science published his paper in its Winter/Spring 2022 issue.

Ishaan’s Research on Antibiotic Resistance

Ishaan’s research explores how bioinformatics can help address antibiotic resistance. Specifically, his paper investigates the prevalence of mecA across different bacterial species.

In addition, he examined the structure and function of the MecA protein using secondary databases. This approach helped him explore the characteristics and spread of mecA.

Ultimately, his research contributes to a broader understanding of antibiotic resistance and efforts to combat methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

About the Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science

The Dartmouth Undergraduate Journal of Science is an open-access scientific publication. Furthermore, the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) lists the journal.

The journal welcomes research submissions from undergraduate students across science-related fields. In 2001, Nature news also featured the journal.
