High School Student Researcher Ellie Du’s Research on the Effects of Heat Stress on Pollinator Bees was accepted at the International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB 2025)

Ellie Du is a student at Shanghai American School in China. She has received national recognition in Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competitions, placing third in the team event “Introduction to Business Presentation,” sixth in the individual event “Organisational Leadership,” and ranking in the top ten for the team event “Business Management.”

At the CCIR Academy, Ellie conducted research on the effects of rising temperatures on pollinator bees. Her research paper, Effects of Heat Stress on Pollinator Bees through Genetic, Individual, Colony, and Community-level Evaluation, examines how heat stress can affect bees at multiple levels, from genetic responses and individual health to colony dynamics and broader ecological consequences.

Ellie’s research has been accepted at the International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB 2025), a global conference organised by the Society for Conservation Biology. The conference brings together researchers and conservation professionals to share research and discuss challenges related to biodiversity and conservation.
