High School Student Researcher Damla Naz Haymanali’s Research on Tetrahedral DNA Nanostructures for Targeted Cancer Treatment was accepted at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR 2025)

NCUR 2025 | National Conference on Undergraduate Research

Damla Naz Haymanali is a student at Dubai College in the UAE. She has a strong interest in science, engineering, and design.

Damla has earned recognition in several academic competitions. She received a Gold Medal in the British Physics Olympiad, placing in the top 10% of participants. She also won a Bronze Medal at the Biogenesis International Biomedicine Olympiad. There, she competed in university-level categories such as Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Molecular Biology.

In addition, Damla led her school team to first place in the Golden Bunsen science competition. Teachers also selected her as one of only eight highly commended students from more than 150 participants.

Damla’s research paper, Tetrahedral DNA Nanostructures for the Targeted Delivery of Cisplatin to Treat Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer, has been accepted at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR 2025).

Her study explores how tetrahedral DNA nanostructures could deliver cisplatin more precisely. The research focuses on the potential use of this approach to treat non-small-cell lung cancer.
