High School Student Researcher Sruthi Chetput’s Research on Trofinetide for Rett Syndrome was accepted at the 2026 American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) Annual Meeting

ASBMB Annual Meeting 2026 | American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Sruthi Chetput is a student at Lynbrook High School in the United States. Her interests span robotics, software development, and the performing arts.

In robotics, Sruthi received the Judges Award at the 2024 VEX VRC Robotics World Championship. She also earned the Build Award at the VEX VRC Robotics State Championship. In addition, she won a software coding hackathon by developing a tutoring and financial guidance platform for students and parents.

Beyond STEM, Sruthi is an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer. She holds an International Certification of Dance from the Conseil International de la Danse (CID). She has also performed in more than 20 full-length productions across the United States and India. Her performances include an appearance on KRON-TV, where she represented Indian dance and culture during AAPI Heritage Month.

Sruthi’s Research on Trofinetide and Rett Syndrome

At the CCIR Academy, Sruthi’s research paper, Trofinetide and Rett Syndrome: A Comprehensive Review of the First FDA-Approved Therapy, was accepted at the 2026 American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) Annual Meeting.

Her research examined the effectiveness, safety, and therapeutic mechanism of trofinetide, the first FDA-approved therapy specifically for Rett syndrome. Drawing on clinical evidence, Sruthi assessed improvements in behavioural and functional symptoms. She also examined the therapy’s safety profile and mechanism of action.

Overall, the review highlights trofinetide as an important development in targeted treatments for rare neurodevelopmental disorders.

About the 2026 ASBMB Annual Meeting

Founded in 1906, the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) advances research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology. The scientific society has more than 11,000 members worldwide.

The 2026 ASBMB Annual Meeting took place from 7–10 March 2026 at National Harbor. The event brought together researchers from across the molecular life sciences. Through scientific presentations, symposia, and discussions, attendees explored emerging areas of research.

Congratulations to Sruthi on this achievement!
