High School Student Researcher Damla Naz Haymanali’s Research on Tetrahedral DNA Nanostructures for Targeted Cancer Treatment was accepted at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR 2025)

Damla Naz Haymanali is a student at Dubai College in the UAE with a strong interest in science, engineering, and design. She was awarded a Gold Medal in the British Physics Olympiad, placing in the top 10% of participants, and a Bronze Medal at the Biogenesis International Biomedicine Olympiad, competing in university-level categories such as Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Molecular Biology. She also led her school’s team to first place in the Golden Bunsen science competition, earning recognition from teachers as one of only eight highly commended students selected from over 150 participants.

Damla’s research paper, Tetrahedral DNA Nanostructures for the Targeted Delivery of Cisplatin to Treat Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer, has been accepted at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR 2025). Her research explores the potential use of tetrahedral DNA nanostructures to deliver cisplatin in a targeted manner for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer.

The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR 2025) provides a platform for students to present their research, scholarship, and creative work while engaging with peers and academics from across disciplines. The conference also supports the development of future researchers by encouraging students to share their work with the wider academic community.
