Sanay’s Paper on Language Model Published in the Stanford Journal of Science, Technology, & Society

Sanay Bordia is a CCIR alumnus and a junior student at Archbishop Mitty High School in California. He is passionate about computer science, speech, debate, and sports. Before joining CCIR, he ranked in the top 10 at the 10Pi Hackathon. Additionally, he ranked in the top 100 in the California Coast District for speech and debate.

Sanay’s Research on Large Language Models

At CCIR, Sanay joined the 1-on-1 Research Mentorship programme. During the programme, he developed a research project titled “Using Large Language Models to Assist Content Generation in Persuasive Speaking.”

His research explores how people use information in persuasive speeches. More specifically, it introduces a new way to analyse arguments. A large language model transforms a simple argument into a more persuasive one.

As a result, this approach could help debaters prepare for tournaments and events. For example, they can test different ideas and ways to present information. They can also review suggestions quickly instead of waiting for feedback from coaches or researchers.

Research Published in the Stanford Journal

Sanay’s research paper earned acceptance from Intersect: The Stanford Journal of Science, Technology, and Society. This achievement recognises his work on language models and persuasive speaking.

The journal publishes research on how social factors shape scientific research and technological innovation. Furthermore, it explores how science and technology influence society.

Congratulations to Sanay on this achievement!
